John H. Reavis, Jr.

John Harden Reavis, Jr. died quietly at his home on June 27, 2018 at the age of 83.  He was born in Virginia and grew up in Galax, VA.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Edith (Edie) Reavis, his daughters Donna Reavis and Denise Reavis Ridgley, his sister Marylou Reavis Cadigan and his parents Ruth K. Lineberry Reavis and John H. Reavis, Sr.  John is survived by his three remaining children, Deanna Reavis Herschell, Randolph (Randy) Reavis, and Dedra Reavis Crawford as well as 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

John grew up the son of a carpenter and followed in his fathers footsteps becoming an exceptional woodworking craftsman.  While serving in the U.S. Army and stationed in Bamberg, Germany, he met the love of his life, Edie.  Edie left her family and everything she knew to come to the United States and marry the love of her life, John.  Together, they had 5 children, 3 of whom were a set of triplets!  

John was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, friend, and human being and loved spending summers on his family farm in Galax.

A private interment will be held at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD following the services.
