MaryAnn C. Burroughs

On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, MaryAnn Burroughs, 97, of Gambrills, MD passed away peacefully. Loving daughter of the late Carmello and Palma Rosa Mistichelli Costa. Beloved wife of the late Robert A. Burroughs, loving mother of Pearl LaPlaca (Dan), Carolyn Burroughs Hicks (Bob) and step-mother to Catherine Stone. Dear sister of Joseph Costa, Rose Costa and the late James Costa. She is survived by eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren whom she loved very much. She was “Aunt Annie” to numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by many friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She had many accomplishments during her lifetime. In her early years she left school at a young age to help support the family. MaryAnn had numerous professions; she was a nanny, nurse, waitress and owned her own diner. After raising her children she volunteered for many years, working with disabled children.  She was very proud of establishing a gift shop at the Conway Hospital in Conway, SC. She also went back to school and at the age of 65 received her high school diploma.
