Lucy Droh Robinson

It is with profound regret and a deep sense of loss that we announce the death of a loving and selfless provider Mrs. Lucy Droh Robinson. This sad event happened on June 21st 2018 in Laurel , Maryland.

Mrs. Lucy Droh Robinson was born to the union of the late Mr. Marcus Kofa Patterson and the late Sarah Wonnoh on the 28th of January 1938 at 10 Steward street, Freetown, Sierra Leone. She is predeceased by four of her siblings, Sylvanus B. Lewis, Jawlee Lewis, Elizabeth B. Kelly and Audrey Patterson. Left to mourn are her sisters Mrs. Victoria Okyne, Mrs. Elizabeth Bloleh Sawyer and brothers Mr. Larry W. Patterson and Mr. Victor Patterson.

She started her primary education at the St. Mary's primary school in 1943. She then went on to the Freetown secondary school for girls briefly and then to the St Joseph's Convent secondary school. After completing her secondary education she began her nursing training at the Connaught hospital school of nursing where she specialized in midwifery. In 1959 she married her childhood sweetheart, the Late Rev. Alfred Jugbeh Robinson, a blessed union that lasted for over 50 years.

 

Lucy Droh Robinson is survived by her 10 children Arnold Robinson (Lina Robinson), Audrey Hastings Spaine (Ralph Hastings Spaine), Carlton Robinson (Oreh Cole-Robinson), Cordelia Robinson (Obadiah Moore), Malphina Scale (Blyden Scale), Marcus Robinson (Fatou Robinson), Victor Robinson (Monica Boyle-Robinson), Jeannette Robinson-Chaytor (David Chaytor), Sarah Mbayo (Sahr Mbayo), Monica Timbo (Maynard Timbo) and adopted son Joseph Sam.

Her legacy lives on with 25 grand children, her crown Jewels; Zoe and Siobhan Robinson, Lindsey, Nathan and Joshua Hastings Spaine, Jaden and Chesney Robinson, Nina, Ian and Sidney Scale, Liam, Jasmine and Gabriela Robinson, Benjamin, Lauren, Noah and Aaron Robinson, Oni and Adeyemi Chaytor, Sahr, Tamba and Aiah Mbayo, and Lydia, Isaac and Jemima Timbo. She is also survived by a host of relatives; the Robinsons, Pattersons, Russells, Cuffeys, Okynes, Wrobehs, Doe-Smiths, Lewis, Glascows, Bushes, Sawyers, living in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Liberia, United Kingdom and the United States; numerous sons and daughters in law, an array of nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Also left to mourn her loss is her Mother’s Union Family, Zion Lutheran Church Family, SJSSAA members, Zion Women, Zion Church Choir and a host of other families and friends.

 

Lucy Droh Robinson epitomized and defined the term “mother”. She was a selfless mom to all who came into her life. She was loved beyond words and will be sorely missed.
