Douglas Orville Parks, 85, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2018 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, Maryland. Beloved husband of 64 years to Nancy M. Parks; loving father of Douglas M. Parks (Steveline), Janice Rodriguez (Jose), Keith Parks (Kim) and Brian Parks (Renee); brother of Norma Lawson and Gary Fitz; cherished by his 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren as well as his many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces. A long-time resident of Bowie, MD, Mr. Parks was born in Wyandotte, OK and grew up in the Miamisburg, OH area. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 18 and served as a radar operator during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Currituck. Douglas had a distinguished career as an illustrator and draftsman with RCA, CIA and NSA. Douglas loved golf, woodworking, crosswords, and cheering on his adopted home town Philadelphia Eagles. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2577 and served in many roles throughout the years.  With the soul of an artist and the hands of a craftsman, he could devise a creative solution to any challenge presented to him. A loyal and trusted friend, he will be fondly remembered for his charm, easy sense of humor and his innate ability to make everyone around him feel special.
