It was in Washington, at Eastern High School that Melva met and in 1954 married Tommy, the great love of her life. The couple’s first apartment was in Takoma Park. In 1959 the young family moved to Palmer Park and finally in 1969 to College Park, MD where Tommy and Melva spent nearly 50 years together. Melva was an accomplished bowler and an avid sports fan. Her favorite sports were baseball and football. Win or lose, she loved her Orioles and Redskins! She was the vocal cheerleader of any sport her family or friends played and was always as close to the action as possible. ! She loved to be on the local ball field and at a baseball game would always station herself right behind the backstop, taking stats and watching those umps. She enjoyed intimate conversations, dinner out, country music, TV, playing cards, dancing and quiet evenings by the fire.  Thru many difficulties, Melva modeled tenacity, working over and over again to get back home to her family. A loving Wife, precious Mother, faithful Sister and Friend, Melva is already missed so much. At times like these we often learn those we love have facets with which we are unfamiliar. Please let share your experience of love and friendship with our beloved Wife and Mom so that, in losing her, we may also know her better. Thank you for all of your love and support of our family through the years. Everyone one of you means the World to us.
