Clifton Francis Hedley

July 1, 1936 — April 15, 2018

On Sunday, April 15, 2018 the Hedley family suffered a great loss with the passing of the patriarch of our family, Clif, who'd been battling esophaghial cancer for the past year. While we are mourning his death, our strong family bond is helping us cope.   A former Grand Knight, he spent countless hours volunteering with the Knights of Columbus, serving as Tootsie Roll chairman on numerous occasions, heading up the re-pass committee, managing the bar, working at weekly bingo, and serving as a member of the Building Association. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 17 years until his health began to decline in April 2017.His organizational skills were phenomenal, as was evident from his pool maintenance records which date back 43 years. We always knew our dinner menu two weeks in advance, and if you were ever curious how much he spent and won from his daily scratch-off tickets, he of course had those records too.We were entertained by his many stories. Did you know pantyhose, plywood, and sugar-coated cereal were all his brainchildren?  Ever hear of the BBT diet?  Beer, broccoli, and tomato!! That was the key to staying healthy as long as he did.  Oh yeah, and beer is considered a health food as it's the next best thing to mother's milk. Pepper is one of the earth's greatest antioxidants, which we all know because he reminded us every time he used it.   Clif maintained an active social life all the way up until his last couple weeks, including a standing date with The Lunch Bunch (his daughter Kerry and granddaughter Christine) on Mondays, as well as Wednesday night dinners with his granddaughter Shannon.  He enjoyed almost daily happy hours with his pals at Crescent Wine & Beer and looked forward to monthly luncheons with his classmates from Calvert Hall, and Thursday lunches with the YORK Club.He loved to cruise with family...so much in fact, that he was a card-carrying member of the Royal Caribbean Diamond Club.  His last cruise in November included many family members, who no doubt will remember his antics for years to come.  Clif leaves behind three children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren who will all miss him dearly.  He has provided us with a lifetime of memories and laughs, and for that we'll be forever grateful.
