Daisy Marie Jones was born on October 13, 1937, in Lincoln Heights, Ohio. She was the sixth of eight children born to the union of Brozia and Essie Joiner. Three brothers (Brozia, Jr, Melvin, Paul) and one sister, Helen, preceded her in death. Daisy gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Lincoln Heights Baptist Church. She graduated from Lockland Wayne High School with honors. She later attended and graduated from Central State College in Wilberforce, Ohio with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. She met her soul mate Lawrence Jones in high school who also attended Central State College. Shortly after graduating from Central State College, Daisy was joined in holy matrimony to Lawrence Jones. That union blessed them with two children, Lawrence II and Lynda. They relocated to St. Louis, Missouri where they lived for 50 years. In 2016, they moved to Odenton, Maryland to be near family. Their marriage of 58 years was interrupted by Daisy’s sudden departure on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 6:30am when the Lord called His faithful servant home. Daisy’s love of children led her to the teaching profession. She taught business and later became a guidance counselor. She retired after 40 years. She received a Master’s in Counseling from Washington University and a Ph.D. in education from St. Louis University. She was also a published author. Daisy was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Drifters, Inc., Jack and Jill Inc., and a host of other organizations. She was a faithful member of Union Memorial Church in St. Louis and joined the First Baptist Church of Glen Arden in Upper Marlboro, MD, March of 2016. Daisy was blessed to have many friends, traveled the world and truly loved her grandson and granddaughters. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. Daisy leaves to loving and precious memories: a loving husband, Lawrence Jones; loving son, Lawrence Jones II (Theresa), loving daughter Lynda Jones Green (James), grandson Jaden Green, granddaughters, Taylor Green and Brielle Jones; sisters: Stella, Pearl, Loretta (Murse), sisters-in-law, Janet Jones and Mae Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
