Viewing hours for Dr. Lynn's family and friends will be Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 pm and Monday, March 12, 2018 from 11:00 am-Noon at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD 20715, to be followed by funeral services at Beall Funeral Home at Noon. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD 21035, directed by Beall Funeral Home.Born October 2, 1935, in Lee County, South Carolina, Dr. Lynn was the youngest son of the late Clarence Lynn and Salama Rogers Lynn. He attended classes in public schools in Lee and Darlington Counties and at South Carolina State College (1952-1956). He went on to receive his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Tuskegee Institute (1956-1960) and his Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) from the University of Missouri (1968-1969). While pursuing his DVM degree, Dr. Lynn served briefly in the United States Army Active Reserves (1957-1960). After he received his DVM, he joined the United States Air Force (USAF) as an officer, from which he retired honorably in 1984 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (1960-1984). During his military career, Dr. Lynn received several awards and decorations (Meritorious Service Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal; Outstanding Unit Award; U.S. Army Good Conduct Medal; Korean Service Medal; and Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Award) and traveled to many states in the U.S. and exotic locations such as Morocco, Taiwan, Korea (post-war) and West Germany. At the time of his retirement, Dr. Lynn was the Director of Environmental Health/Veterinary and Public Health Services at Andrews Air Force Base (currently Joint Base Andrews).Throughout his life, Dr. Lynn continued to educate himself, taking classes in a variety of subjects such as auto mechanics from Central Texas State College (1975-1978), real estate from Prince George's Community College (1980-1984), and epidemiology from the University of Minnesota (1982). After his retirement from the USAF, Dr. Lynn turned his interest in real estate into a post-military career as a real estate agent. He was active in that profession for many years, working his way from sales associate to broker and owner of his own real estate agency.In addition to Dr. Lynn's work ethic, he served his community as an active member, sponsor and volunteer for Alcoholics Anonymous for many years and at many different locations and contributed to many charities. He also loved to travel and was a past member of the American Volkssport Association, a hobby to which he was introduced while stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base in West Germany. In addition, he had an interest in the Civil War and black history and traveled with friends to several historical sites relating to those topics.Dr. Lynn leaves behind his loving wife Barbara of Brandywine, MD; daughter Tammi Foxwell (David) of Elkridge, MD; sister Ruth Canty of Jamaica, NY; brother O'Neal of Hartsville, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who are deeply saddened by his loss.In addition to his parents, Dr. Lynn is predeceased by two sisters, Joy Edith Scott and Vashti Bailey, and three brothers, Robert Hardin Lynn, Louie B.
