Elaine Lillian Mulrenin

December 24, 1929 — February 26, 2018

Elaine “Micki” Mulrenin, a fifty-four-year resident of Bowie and parishioner of St. Pius X Church, died on February 26, 2018. Micki was born on December 24, 1929 in New York to Robert and Madeline Marshall. She had her first date with her husband, Thomas Joseph, also from New York City, watching the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. They married May 10, 1952. Their homes, first in New York and then in Bowie, were often the center of dinner parties, sing-a-longs, board games, and as the children grew into their teenage years, football and basketball games.    Micki was also active in the St. Pius X parish, including service in Sodality.  She understood that serving others, as a wife, mother and friend was her vocation.  Her gifts included sewing clothing not only for her children, but also Halloween costumes and quilts for her children and grandchildren and for the plays at St. Pius X Church.  She taught her children and grandchildren how to swim, do algebra, pronounce words forward…and backwards.  She painted her own house, inside and out.  She refinished furniture.  She only stopped activity at night to read novels and in the early morning, from front page to back, The Washington Post. Micki was pre-deceased by her husband, Thomas, in 2001, and her son, Michael, in 1987.  She is survived by her children and their spouses, Thomas (Judy), Maureen (Rob), Kate, Colleen, Timothy (Laura), Eileen (Greg), Tricia (Jamie); nineteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Maureen; and her brother, Richard. Visitation will be on March 2, 2018 from 6–8pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy, Bowie, MD 20715. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11am at St. Pius X Church, 14720 Annapolis Rd, Bowie, MD 20715.
