Daphne Lucille Profitt was born in Plaisance, Guyana to predeceased Ellen and George Profitt on Thursday, April 11, 1946 and transitioned from this existence last Thursday 22nd, February, 2018.A remarkable student, at age 15, Daphne commenced her education at St. Albans Anglican School, Belladrum, and St. Jude's Anglican Primary School, Litchfield both of the West Coast Berbice, in Guyana and continued her secondary education at Tutorial High School from 1958 to 1961. She had acquired her College of Preceptors Certificate and began teaching at St. Paul's Anglican and St. John's Catholic schools, both located in her hometown. Daphne gained admittance to the Teachers' Training College graduated in 1968, as was instantly employed at Annandale Primary School, East Coast Demerara. A year later she transferred to Main Street Roman Catholic School in the capital, Georgetown.She accomplished many great things; got married, had children and built an illustrious career. Her name was now Daphne Lucille Jones she married the love of her life Cornel Rudolph Jones in 1971. She and her husband were blessed with two adorable children; Dionne, in 1972 and Calvin, seven years later.She emigrated to Canada in 1973, there she attended Centennial College, studied Business Management, graduated, and worked to build her family, not withstanding the cold winters of Toronto, until they moved to the USA in 1979. She was dedicated to family and held that as the most important treasure in her life.In Maryland Daphne found employment with Kay Apartment Management and became significant and a valued part of the company as their Payroll Supervisor for 36 years until her retirement in 2014.Mrs. Jones, demure and sophisticated, with her beatific smile and infectious laugh, was kind and loving, always willing to help family and friends. And although she might sometimes appear quiet, even reticent, within her family she was not so, she was witty, and willing to throw a well-aimed verbal jab in an instant. She loved traveling, Boat cruises and visits to the homeland were at the top of her list.Daphne has left to mourn in her passing; her husband and children; brothers and sisters, their spouses and their children. She also left further extended family and a multitude of friends.
