In the early morning hours of February 12, 2018, Robert Daniel (Bob, Danny) Wilson of Crofton, MD peacefully departed this life rather than remain in a world where the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions. He was 79. He was born on January 3, 1939, in Washington, DC to the late John N. and Pearl E. Baker Wilson. He grew up in Landover, MD on the Wilson Dairy Farm, now the site of FedEx Field and home to his favorite football team, the Washington Redskins. A life-long resident of the DC area, he often hitchhiked from the family farm in Landover to school at DeMatha Catholic High School, where he starred on the baseball team before graduating in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1964, deploying to West Germany where he met and married his wife Helga, before receiving an honorable discharge. He went on to a long, distinguished career at Pepco following his return to the US. Besides the Redskins, he enjoyed the Washington Capitals and watching NCIS. He was fiercely patriotic, as exhibited by his love of collecting coins and books related to the US military and other US history (Civil War, World War 2, etc.). Robert is survived by many devoted friends and his forever-adoring family including his wife Helga; children Susan, Amy, Terry and his wife Celia, and David and his wife Christine; grandchildren Leslie and her husband Miguel, Becky and her husband Chris, Colleen, Matt, Alexandra, Shayne, Timmy, Kyle, and Michael; great-grandchildren Alyssa, Ayden, Lilly, Avery, Alexa, and Evan; and siblings Neale, Carol, Wayne, and Mark. In Heaven he joins his loving parents John and Pearl, brothers Kent, Jerry, and Charlie, son-in-law John, and cherished infant son Tommy. Visitation will be held at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Services will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Crofton, MD on Friday, February 16, 2018, at 11 am. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, 516 Trail Avenue, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702 or Crofton Christian Caring Council, P.O. Box 3141, Crofton, MD 21114
