David Ronald Friedman passed on to eternal life on February 11, 2018. Mr. Friedman was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 3, 1930, the second child of Samuel S. and Ruth (Cassel) Friedman. A sister, Marilyn Cassel Friedman, passed away at the age of four. Davids parents divorced when David was eight years old. He was schooled at Miami Military (FL) Academy and Porter Military Academy in Charleston, SC. After one year at the College of Charleston, he joined the United States Army. He was a proud Korean War Veteran and saw duty at other stations including Guam, Japan, Germany and other bases in the United States with the Army Signal Corps at the Pentagon. He was discharged after six years of service with the rank of Sgt First Class.Mr. Friedman was divorced from Bernice Sacks Findley who passed away in 1985 at the age of 49. They had two children Mark Friedman (Cathy) of Bowie, MD and Marilyn Hendley (James) of Chester, MD. He then married Peggy Sessoms who brought three children to the marriage, Susan Simmons of Apex, NC,Sandy LaBille of Brandywine, MD and Ronald Sessoms of Perry Hall, MD. They had two children together, Allen Friedman (Teresa) of Owings and Paul Friedman (Kama) of Dunkirk, MD. Peggy Friedman passed away in 1988. Mr. Friedman married Shirley Ann Jarboe (Smith) who he leaves after 19 years of marriage. During the marriage he became very close to her children Bill Jarboe (Peggy), Roberta Gessert (Art), Donald Jarboe (Judy) and Michael Jarboe (Robin).He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Steven Friedman, Shannon Rehm (Justin), Alexander Friedman, Candace Friedman, Jordan Friedman, Clayton Friedman, Michelle Hendley, Stephanie Hendley and Kyle Hendley (Jen), as well as the 11 grandchildren he loved on Shirleys side. He was also blessed to be a great-grandfather to Brody Rehm, Baby Boy Hendley due in June, 5 great grandchildren from Shirleys children and beloved brother-in-law Ken Smith (Diana). These children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of his life.Mr. Friedman enjoyed music, stage plays, collecting numerous things, travel, the wonders of the beach, cruising and bragging on his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Mr. Friedman will be buried at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crains Highway, Chelentham, MD at 11:00am on March 5th, followed by a Celebration of Life where all friends and family are warmly welcomed at the American Legion Post 206, 3330 Chesapeake Beach Road, Chesapeake Beach, MD, 20732 from 12noon-3pm.In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to either the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home or Medstar St. Marys Hospital Hospice.
