Robert E. Reckert (Bob), 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving daughters, on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Bob was a long-time resident of Maryland, living in Glen Burnie, Bowie, and most recently in Pasadena. He was born on July 17, 1936 in Washington, DC. Bob worked as an aircraft mechanic for TWA, and retired after 42 years with the airline. In his spare time, Bob took pride in keeping his yard and home beautifully maintained, and enjoyed spending time with his daughters and their families. He will be most remembered for his selfless, gentle and loving spirit. He lived his life through simple pleasures, and had an uncanny way of making everyone he met feel loved, welcomed and appreciated. Bob is survived by his four daughters Sue Kane (Andrew), Sandy Reckert-Reusing (John), Amy McDougall (William), and Jeanie Reckert Turrini (Mark); his caregiver and “fifth” daughter, Bonnie Bryan; nine grandchildren (Heather Phillips, Megan Karcher, Amber Wilson, Alfred Sadaka, Katie Plaat, Jarred Reusing, Faith Reusing, Kylie McDougall and Billy McDougall), three great grandchildren (Brendan Phillips, Carson Phillips and Grant Karcher), and four siblings (Eileen Heim, Joseph Reckert, Virginia Lapp and David Reckert), and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Reckert, his parents Charles and Valeria Reckert, his sister Maysie Pettit, and two brothers, Charles Reckert and William Reckert. Family and friends may visit at Beall Funeral Home in Bowie, MD, on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bowie on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment will be held the following day, and is private. Bob loved to support many charitable organizations. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to a charity of your choice.
