William C. Truesdell

William Carl Truesdell (Bill) passed away February 5, 2018 in Crofton, Maryland following a brief illness. Born May 25, 1964 at the U.S. Naval Academy Hospital to Richard and Lucille Truesdell of Crofton, Maryland. Bill is survived by both parents, two siblings: Steve Truesdell (Janine) of Tampa, Florida and Carrie Truesdell Bird (Theodore) of Harwood, Maryland; and five nephews: Daniel Truesdell, Michael Truesdell, Grayden Bird, Marcus Bird and Owen Bird. Bill attended local schools, including Arthur Slade, until his military father was re-assigned to Belgium in 1979. Bill graduated from the Shape American High School in Mons, Belgium in 1982. While living in Belgium, Bill stayed active in the Boy Scouts of America, earning the highest rank of Eagle Scout. After returning to the United States, Bill enrolled at Anne Arundel Community College, earning two Associate Degrees. After AACC, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a Systems Operation Specialist until medically retired in 1987. Following his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, Bill qualified for a CDL license and spent the next 20 years as a commercial over-the-road driver. In his spare time he enjoyed watching all of his nephews play sports, spending time with family, friends and neighbors, reading, movies and learning about history. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 11am to 12:30pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rt 3 South), Bowie, MD, followed by a funeral service at 12:30pm. Interment Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
