He honorably served his country as an accomplished Major in the Medical Service Corps of the United States Army. Once completing his assignment as the Chief of the Laboratory Services, he went on to earn his Masters in Health Care Administration from The George Washington University, and obtain his license to practice Hospital Administration. Melvin Chambers used his academic achievements to serve the citizens of the District of Columbia as a well respected Administrator in the D.C. Government, until he retired.Melvin Chambers had numerous affiliations to various organizations, and could be described as never meeting a stranger. He was a friendly and well loved person. He is survived by three children, six grandchildren, two siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Melvin Chambers will be greatly missed.
