On Friday, Dec 29, 2017, John (Skip) Radowich, aged 67, died unexpectedly at his home. Skip was born in Baltimore, MD and spent his earliest years living in Philadelphia and Chicago before moving to New Carrollton, MD. He attended St. Mary's parochial school where he met his future wife, Sharon, in the 6th grade. Skip went on to graduate from Archbishop John Carroll High School in Washington, DC in June of 1968 then enlisted in the US Navy. He was assigned to Sea Duty on the USS Borie where he remained until his honorable discharge into the US Naval Reserves, Seabees. He then was hired by WSSC as a rodman and, over the years, advanced to Minority Contract Manager. Skip retired in 1998 after accumulating 30 years credited service. Skip was a major sports enthusiast whose greatest joy and gift was in coaching. He coached both football (ankle biters through the semi-pro team, Washington Saints) and baseball from boys' club to American Legion level. He was instrumental in starting a fall ball league and accrued many honors including Coach of the Year during his time as head coach of the College Park American Legion team. He reluctantly resigned from coaching coinciding with moving from PG to Anne Arundel County. After retiring from WSSC, Skip spent his time and energies planning and executing major home and landscape projects. He was extremely proud of the improvements to his property and enjoyed gardening and yard maintenance while he was physically able to do so. Skip was very involved in the neighborhood and got enormous pleasure in getting to know his neighbors and their children, their horses, cats and dogs. He was known for carrying dog treats whenever he went outside to give to any dog lucky enough to be out at the same time. Skip suffered from several chronic illnesses which kept him hospitalized for months at a time, but he had always managed to bounce back into the game. Skip was predeceased by his parents, John F. and A. Joyce Radowich and his youngest brother, Bruce G. Radowich. His survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sharon (Trimble) Radowich, his brothers Jeffrey J. Radowich (Sandra) and Mark S. Radowich (Cindy) and by his sister Mary (Stevenson) White (Jay). Skip is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as a host of nieces and nephews whom he doted on or teased mercilessly without discrimination.
