Sharon B. Wacenske

April 6, 1943 — December 28, 2017

Born on 6 April 1943 to Ralph and Winifred Buys.  She attended Wayne Central Schools from kindergarten through graduation in 1961.  Following High School, Sharon attended Nursing School.  She was a nurse in a nursing home for a few years until shortly after her wedding to Richard H. Wacenske on 6 October 1962.  She and Richard raised four children: Karen, Kurt, Karl and Kay.  After their children were grown and moved out, Sharon and Richard divorced.  Sharon bought a house in Pittsford, NY where she lived until her youngest child requested that she move in with her to help raise her grandchildren while her daughter served in the US Army.  She then packed up her necessary belongings and moved to Hawaii!  She traveled over several of these United States and lived in Georgia, Washington, and finally ending in Maryland where Kay retired.  Sharon enjoyed and was well-known for her skills as a baker.  She participated in a bake-off at one of Kay's unit picnics.  She won first prize for her apple pie.  It was forever known after that as her Award Winning Apple Pie.  The Relief Society at her daughter's church even requested a class on pie-baking which she accepted.  She passed away on 28 December 2017 after a long-term struggle with COPD.  She was at home on Hospice care and loved daily.  She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Judy Buys, Shirley Bolthouse, and Charlene Russell, brothers Nelson Buys, Ken Buys, Paul Buys, and Gene Buys. and her grand-daughter, Kaitlyn Wacenske.  She is survived by her four children Karen (Martin) Truchok, Kurt Wacenske, Karl Wacenske and Kay Sweitzer; grandchildren Evelyn Truchok, Kara Wacenske, Konner Wacenske, James Wacenske, John Wacenske, Denver Shaw, Gabriel Shaw and Kayleigh Sweitzer; siblings Patricia Youngman, Beverly Triou, Ralph “O"(Phyllis), Jr., Sandra (Thomas) Salvas , Bonnie Sonneville, Wanda (David) Forbes. She is also survived by sisters-in-law­­ Susan Buys, Jerilyn Buys & Bobbie Porter; and brother-in-law, Earl Russell. A maternal aunt, Molly (Larry) ­­Ebert Hill; and her long-time companion Jacob Rosenberg.
