Eileen E. Blaine, 91, returned to her heavenly home on December 8, 2017. Eileen was born to the late Ernest and Augusta Erwin, in Washington, DC, on July 28, 1926. She graduated from Anacostia High School and married her high school sweetheart, Paul Blaine, in 1947. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God were the hallmarks of her life. Eileen and Paul enjoyed 57 years together and were blessed with a large and loving family. Together they raised 7 children, and joyfully welcomed 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren into the family circle, with two more expected in 2018. Despite their busy lives raising a large family, Eileen and Paul were committed to sharing their Catholic faith. They taught religious education classes together in their home, ministered to young married couples, were heavily involved with the Society of the Divine Savior as lay Salvatorians, and Paul served the Archdiocese of Washington as a Permanent Deacon for 25 years before his death in 2004. Eileen was also predeceased by two grandsons, Eric Paul Lenfest and Galen Andrew Harig-Blaine; one great-granddaughter, Mary Grace Pierpont; her sister Kathlyn "Lovens" O'Reagan; and brothers Joseph "Mickey" Erwin and Ernest "Dinty" Erwin. Eileen is survived her sister, Dorothyanne Herbert; and her children: Barbara (John) Hoff of Huntingtown MD, Stephen (Clare) Blaine of Annapolis MD, Susan (Charley) Lenfest of St. Michaels MD, Diane (Joe) Haik of Phoenix AZ, Jennifer Blaine of Bowie MD, Lisa (Kevin) McCarthy of Clarksville MD, and Jeannemarie (Steve) Smiroldo of North Beach MD. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren: Michelle (Gary) Pierpont, Karen (Jimmy) Remington, Melissa (Kevin) Knott, Elisha (Shannon) Blaine, Jolyce (Mike) O’Neill, Dawn (Greg) Lowman, Jeremy Haik, Ryan (Bora) Haik, David Haik, Melanie Haik and Jason Lowery, Sarah (Trevor) Miller, Molly McCarthy and Karriem Caldwell Shah, Kevin McCarthy, Bridget McCarthy, Patrick McCarthy, Shannon McCarthy, Rachel Smiroldo, Vincent Smiroldo, and great-grandchildren: Gary, Brandon, Gabrielle, AJ, Jason, Evan, Riley, Ethan, Lilly, Gwendoline, Callie, Camryn, Kate, and Olivia. The family will receive friends at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD 20715, on Thursday, December 14, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 15, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 1601 W. Mount Harmony Road, Owings, MD 20736.
