Julianna Trimmer, 92, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2017, at her long-time home in Bowie, Maryland. She was born as Julianna Szabó on February 17, 1925 in Etyek, Hungary, a small town outside Budapest. After immigrating to the United States through Ellis Island in 1929, Julianna and her family settled in Maryland. In 1942, Julianna graduated as Valedictorian from Bowie High School. She then worked as an Executive Assistant for the Hecht Company in Washington, D.C., and later worked on Capitol Hill, until her marriage to Joseph Edward Trimmer in 1947. Julianna raised two sons: Joseph, who graduated from the University of Maryland in 1974, was an officer in the Marine Corps and continues to reside in Maryland, and John, a successful electrical engineer based in the Los Angeles area, who graduated from the University of Maryland in 1978. A unique soul, Julianna loved to tell stories, cook, and work in her yard. Perhaps the highlight of her life that she often talked about was traveling in 1972, during the Cold War, to her birthplace of Etyek, Hungary, where she met many relatives and was able to explore her Hungarian heritage. Julianna will be greatly missed. She is survived by her son Joseph and his daughter Stacey and son Andrew, by her son John and his two daughters Katherine and Elizabeth, and by her loving sisters Rose Wilson and Teresia Wagner. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Joseph Trimmer in 2014, her parents Antal and Rozália Szabó, and her siblings Mary Craighead, George Szabó, Anthony Szabó, and Dorothy Szabó.
