Walter Myron Harris

Walter Myron Harris, age 88, passed away on November 4th, 2017 at 10:00pm at home with his wife, Charlotte and daughter, Donna at his bedside.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine Harris and Berkley Harris.Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte A. Harris; his three daughters, Linda M. Barton, Donna J. Schrock, and Charlene A. Leizear; his six grandsons, Brian and Michael Barton, Charles Gardiner, David Schrock, Eric and Christopher Leizear and four great grandchildren, Brian Barton, Jr., Tyler Gonzales, Joshua and Sophia Gardiner. Also survived by his brothers, William and Marvin Harris.Mr. Harris served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Harris attended and graduated from Strayer College with a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree. He was employed as a offshore oil and gas royalty accountant for the U.S. Department of the Interior Minerals Management Service, and later in the U.S. Geological Survey. He was a longtime resident of West Lanham Hills and served as the community treasurer for over 41 years. Mr. Harris often volunteered in community activities.  He was a faithful member of the Riverdale Baptist Church.
