Howard Leroy (Dusty) Shrodes (81) passed away peacefully on October 26, 2017at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Dusty was born in Martin’s Ferry, Ohio to Raymond and Ethel Shrodes. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and his sister Patricia Hartley. Dusty is survived by his brother Del Shrodes, sister in law Lydia Shrodes, sister Raylene Perry, brother in law Michael Arbogast, daughters Julie Shrodes Spano and Alisa Shrodes, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dusty was a service disabled veteran first serving in the United States Air Force from 1952 to1957 in Korea and at AACS/MATS Command at Andrews AFB. His second tour of service was as a United States Marine rifleman in Vietnam from 1959 to 1964, returning to Portsmouth Naval Hospital with back injury and hearing loss. Dusty’s post military service career started as a computer language instructor at the International Academy (1965-1968), project manager at the Government Printing Office (1968-1978), Vice President/General Manager of Bowie Golf Management, Inc. dba Bowie Golf Club (1978-present) and President/CEO of HLS Construction, Inc. a SDVSB general construction company (2004 to present).
