James (Jim) Nathan Mills, Jr., passed away on August 21, 2017 at the age of 69. Born in the District of Columbia on June 6, 1948, Jim spent his youth growing up in Riverdale, MD and was a 1966 graduate of Duvall High School. Jim received his pilot's license at sixteen, and went on to serve in the Army in 1967, where he achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. As an Army Aviator, Jim flew the UH-1 Huey helicopter. He was awarded the Air Medal prior to his Honorable Discharge in 1970.Jim then went on to follow his many passions. Early on, he was an over-the-road trucker and tow truck driver. He then used his knowledge and experience to become a prominent businessman achieving successes in the heavy equipment towing and tire industry in and around Washington, DC. These successes allowed him to further his passion for all things motorized, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, airplanes, tow trucks and boats. Jim would always add his personal touch to make each of his toys "his own." Among his family and friends, this became known as "Jim-inizing."Jim was a great father and grandfather, and a friend to many people. In business, he was known for his professionalism and loyalty to his team and customers. In person, he touched everyone with his wisdom, sound advice and inspiration. In life, he will be remembered for "Jim-inizing" all he touched; including inspiring those around him to see and realize their own potential.Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Mills, Sr., his sister, Pamela Bransfield, and his step-father, Arthur VanHorn. He is survived by his mother, Dolly VanHorn; daughter Tina O'Mealy, son-in-law Mike O'Mealy, and grandchildren Collin and Casey; very special friend Melanie Hungerford; step-mom Betty Mills; step-sisters Beth Colgan and Kathy Manis; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
