Matthew Mangold left us suddenly to be with the Lord on July 15th, 2017. Matthew graduated from Bishop McNamara High School in 1970. He was a member of the MD Civil Air Patrol. He was retired from the United States Mint where he worked for over 25 years. He is survived by his two children, Marianne Arlene Mangold of Odenton, MD and Michael Andrew Mangold and daughter-in-law Hon (JoJo) Ly of Laurel, MD. His granddaughter Rayna Nikole Davis and her father Louis John Davis, Jr of Odenton, MD, his ex-wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Wood of Harrington, DE, whom he remained good friends. His is also survived by his brother Mark Anthony Mangold of Temple Hills, MD, sister-in-Law Carol Mangold, Niece Danielle Shuey, Nephew Darren Mangold, his brother Montgomery Arnold Mangold of LaPlata, MD, Sister in Law Renna Mangold, Niece Debbie Mangold, Niece Jeannette Slesicki and Nephew John Lyon children of Art and Madonna Lyon and sister Monica Anne Mangold of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father John Stanley Mangold, mother Dolores Frances Mangold (Shludecker), and his sister Madonna Marie Lyon.Matthew was a devout Christian and belonged to Trinity Episcopal Church of Upper Marlboro, MD. He loved the outdoors and was a war history buff. Recently he played as an extra for House of Cards and was in several scenes. This was a new found hobby which he enjoyed greatly. He is remembered for being a sweet, kind spirited and good man who loved his family and adored his granddaughter.
