Charles Richard Godwin

When you think of the perfect example of a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle or friend, it is easy to think of Charles Richard "Dick" Godwin. “He was just the sweetest man” is constantly what we hear when someone who knows Dick explains him.Dick was a man who put family above all things and was devoted to his wife of 65+ yrs, Helen Casper Godwin, who predeceased him in April 2014. Their great love was an example to all lucky enough to witness it. He was known for his impeccable taste, always being put together and tidy and his love for spoiling those that he cared for  most. He was very proud of his service in the United States Air Force and work at the United State Supreme Court upon honorable discharge. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service.He was the son of the late Charles and Mary Godwin. He is survived by his daughter Bobbi Grossmiller of Towson, MD, son Brent Godwin of Gambrills, MD, seven grandchildren: Billy Grossmiller and wife Kerry, Sarah (Grossmiller) Maher and husband Regis, Matthew Godwin, Ashley (Grossmiller) Ciampo and husband Mike, David Godwin and wife Erin, Phillip Grossmiller and wife Megan & Emma Godwin and fiance Steven Kibbey, as well as 6 great-grandchildren: Regie Maher, Lauren Maher, Riley Thompson Godwin, Liam Grossmiller, Sadie Grossmiller and Maddox Godwin. He is also survived by sister in law's Betty Godwin and Jo Casper, by many loyal friends from Grace Brethren Church Calvert County, Sun City Bluffton and the surrounding community he most recently called home.  Predeceased by his brother, John D. Godwin, son-in-law, Bill Grossmiller and granddaughter, Katie Godwin.We know that he is in peace in heaven alongside family we lost too soon. We love you and miss you already. xo
