Russell Martin Connors

March 24, 1926 — July 6, 2017

Russell Martin Connors, age 91 of Loudon, Tennessee and formerly of Bowie, Maryland, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017. Russell was born to the late John Joseph and Lillian (Blades) Connors in Boston. He served his country in the US Navy in the Pacific theatre during WWII. Returning to school, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Dartmouth University. Russell spent his career in the Washington DC area working for the General Services Administration, a division of the US Government. There his responsibilities included overseeing projects and upgrades at the White House and the State Department Building and most notably he served as the Engineer in charge of the J. Edgar Hoover Building. Russell was a member of St Pius X Catholic Church and a founding member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 2577 in Bowie, MD. Following the death of his beloved wife, Eunice, Russell relocated to E. Tennessee where he became a member of the Tellico Lake American Legion Post # 256 and settled into life at The Neighborhood where he quickly became fast friends with all who crossed his path.Preceded in death by his parents; wife Eunice (Diegoli) Connors and his brother, John Connors.Survivors include his children and their spouses, Elizabeth (Justin) Tindall, Chesapeake, VA, Sean (Robi) Connors, Loudon, TN and Jennifer (Travis) Brank, Easley, SC; grandchildren, Kristen (Darryl) Memering, Tyler Marcous, Kili Connors and Connor Brank; great grandson, Darryl Memering, Jr.Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 6 to 8pm, at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD 20715. A prayer service will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 1pm at the funeral home followed by a 2:30pm committal service in the Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery, Crownsville, MD, with full military honors.  Memorial donations may be made to Tellico Village Volunteer Fire Department, 210 Chota Rd. Loudon, TN 37774.
