Maury "Mo" Sweetin, 82, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, MD. Maury was born June 28, 1935 to Tom and Leota Sweeten in Ina, Illinois. The oldest of three children, Maury graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1953. Maury served in the Navy as an Electronics Technician. He met his beautiful bride Angela Carpenter near the end of his enlistment and shortly after they wed, he began his career in the aerospace industry. Maury worked aboard satellite tracking ships, then at space flight centers at Cape Canaveral, FL, Gilmore Creek, Alaska, Goddard Space Flight Center and the Jet Propulsion Lab. He received an MBA from Claremont College. Maury became a Vice President at OAO Corporation and only recently retired from consulting work in the aerospace and defense contracting arena. He served as a deacon at Village Baptist Church in Bowie and he was actively involved in golf, tennis and loved spending time with his grandkids. Maury is survived by his wife Angela; son Steve and his wife Anne Marie, son Jeff and his wife Donna; grandchildren Siobhan, Jessica, Michael, Kate, TJ & Colin; great grandchildren Eoghan and Elsie; brothers Tom and Gary and numerous nieces and nephews. Maury was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 6 to 8pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rt 3 South), Bowie, MD 20715. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Village Baptist Church, 1950 Mitchellville Rd, Bowie MD 20715.
