James S. Klapp (age 86) of Bowie, Maryland passed away on June 24, 2017 following a long illness. He leaves behind his wife Jean of 63 years, his 4 children - Jim, Amanda, Angela and Andrea, 5 Grand Children, Sarah, Kristopher, Matthew, Katharine and Emma and 6 Great-grandchildren, Tyler, Dylan, Haley, Dustyn, Daryl and Axel. He is also survived by an older brother, Gene Fairchild and his wife Donna of St Augustine Florida. While serving in the US Air Force, stationed in England, he met and married Jean and went on to have a long 30+year career with the General Accounting Office. His work allowed him to travel extensively, visiting 28 countries. His family will be forever grateful for the opportunities to live overseas and experience other parts of the world. After retirement, Jim spent many years performing in community theater - having roles in Brigadoon, Oklahoma, 1776, Guy and Dolls and as a cast extra in others. In addition to this, he and Jean also were singers in the Bowie Senior Chorale and he was a Tenor in the Bowie Knights of Harmony Men's Chorus. He was also the Lead in a competing Quartet group called the Barrelltones and produced a CD when he was 66 years young. In life we loved you, in death we do the same. A Memorial gathering will be held on Friday June 30, 2017 from 1-2pm at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rt 3 South), Bowie MD followed by a Memorial Service at 2pm.
