Alfred Karl-Franz Nedoluha was born in Vienna, Austria, on Sept. 13, 1928. He was the only child of Petronella and Franz Nedoluha. He grew up with a love of math and physics that continued throughout his life. He lived in Vienna, and continued his studies until he received his Doctorate Degree in Physics at the University of Vienna in 1951. In 1957 he married Auguste Stahl and soon afterwards they immigrated to the United States. The lived in El Paso, Texas and he worked at a physicist at the White Sands Proving Ground. In 1960 they moved to Riverside, California, to work at the Naval Ordinance Laboratory in Corona, California. There they had their only child, Gerald Ernst Nedoluha. In 1970 they moved to San Diego to work at the Naval Ocean System Center. From 1974 to 1978 they temporarily left San Diego to live in London, England, working for the Army Research Office. He retired in 1989, and took advantage of his newly found free time to immerse himself in physics topics of interest, especially string theory. When Auguste Nedoluha died in 1998 he moved to Bowie, Maryland, to live with his son and his son’s wife, Patti Nedoluha. He is survived by his son, his daughter-in-law, and a grandchild, Robert Nedoluha.
