Carlisle Rudolph Paul was born to the late Nathaniel HarryPaul and Lavinia Stephens HarryPaul on April 11th, 1938. He was born and raised on the lovely island of Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies. Carlisle completed classes in Business and went on to continue his studies at Howard University in Washington DC. He followed the lead of his lovely misses and eventual wife, Gloria R. Paul, and chose to leave Trinidad and migrate to the United States in search of a better life. Carlisle and Gloria were blessed with four children, Lesley, Roxanne, Duane, and Carlene. Carlisle and Gloria raised their family in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. ?? The highlights of his career included working as a business associate for the Water Authority in Trinidad and Tobago, working as a cab driver in the DC Metropolitan area, and supporting his wife in several of her own businesses. He was an avid fan of horse track racing and believed in the power of the lottery by faithfully purchasing a potentially winning ticket every day. He was generous with his time and could be counted on to give you a ride or offer help whenever a family member was in need. He was a big believer in the power of exercise and healthy living and worked to maintain an active life well in to his golden years. Along with his wife Gloria, he was able to travel back to Trinidad for two brief years of retirement living before health issues forced them both to return back to the United States. He gracefully battled a combination of Alzheimer’s and dementia for the past 7 years. It first started to rob him of memories (both short-term and long-term) in the beginning and then it eventually enveloped him in a world that only he could understand. Carlisle had a deep and personal love for family, dance, music, and Caribbean food. He was affectionately known as “Pampa” to his grandchildren. He supported many family events for his children, grandchildren, family members and friends. Along with his wife, he selflessly opened his home and heart to anyone in need, and always made you feel like you were part of his family or one of his children. ?? Carlisle departed this earth on Tuesday, May 9th, 2017, drifting off peacefully in his sleep. Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Lesley, Roxanne (Brett), Duane (Kalonn), and Carlene (Jerome), and his twelve grandchildren, Armani, Isis, Malachi, Marcus, Morgan, Mason, Makenzie, Cole, Marc, Trey, Henry, and Khalil. Carlisle’s wife, Gloria, preceded him in death on January 21, 2016. He is also survived by his one remaining sibling in Trinidad, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other extended family and friends.
