Pamela Jean Emery-Williams, age 63, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2017. She was born on January 18, 1954, in Toledo, Ohio and was the eldest child of Ionia and Rogers Horton. Pamela was a 1972 graduate of Springfield High School in Holland, Ohio and subsequently attended the University of Toledo where she met and later married her first husband, John Emery in 1974, a union blessed with a son John Emery, Jr. The couple moved to Washington, DC in 1976 and while they later divorced, they remained close and jointly participated in the nurturing and development of their son. Even though a single mother, Pamela initiated several entrepreneurial ventures before becoming a litigation support expert with a major Washington law firm focusing on international trade law. In 1993 she met Leonard Williams and the couple married in late 1994, later moving to Mitchellville, Maryland. Pamela continued her work in the legal field until 1997, when she began a successful career as a realtor in Prince Georges County, Maryland. This was unfortunately cut short in 2000 with her onset of multiple scleroses. However, she remained upbeat and active finding joy in travelling, especially internationally with her husband, shopping, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Ionia and Rogers Horton, a sister Cynthia Joe Horton and her brother Rodney Horton. She is survived by her husband Leonard, her son and his wife, John and Mecca Emery, Jr., her younger brother Roger (Johnnie Mae) Horton, grandchildren Tayla, Naiya, John III, Zachary and Jeremy, aunts Shirley Beal and Jessie Lewis of Texarkana, TX, Ann Delaney of Saginaw, MI and Wanda Horton of Detroit, MI along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family is forever indebted to Stephanie Mack for her warm and genuine concern as a caregiver and companion to Pamela and extends its’ sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, for the kind, compassionate and loving care that they extended to Pamela during her final days.
