Gerald Curtis Dickens born January 8, 1940 in Washington, DC died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. True to himself, Jerry, as he was known to friends, fought a tough fight against illness for the last 10 months. He was indeed a tough man. In his early career he was an Operating Engineer until he left to pursue his own dreams and interests and had many business ventures. He was most happy with his passion of owning and racing Thoroughbred horses. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Fannie Dickens as well as his daughter Robin Dickens, two brothers, Douglas and Stanley Dickens, three step brothers and three step sisters. He is survived by his loving daughter, Deborah Hunter (Mark), son, Jerry Dickens and sister, Susie Kenny. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
