Max D. LeQuang (LeQuang Dat Maxime), born May,1943 in Saigon, Vietnam. Max graduated from Lycee Jean Jacques Rousseau High School of the French Cultural Mission in Saigon. Subsequently, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in letters from Saigon University, an equivalent of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the Political Warfare College of Vietnam and finally a MBA from Loyola University, Baltimore Maryland.In 1960, Max joined the 77th Airborne Ranger Group of the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces (RVNAF) where he served as liaison officer with the 5th US Special Forces Group in Vietnam. In 1963, he attended the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Reserve Officer Training Course, the equivalent of the US Officer Candidate School. After being commissioned as a third lieutenant, Max was assigned to the Regional and Popular Forces Headquarters as an equipment officer.In 1967, he was sent to attend the Civil Affairs School at Fort Gordon in Georgia, USA. Later he attended the US Army Special Warfare School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Upon his return to Vietnam, Max was reassigned to the Psychology Warfare Department (RVNAF), culminating as the Executive Officer of the Department.Upon the fall of Saigon in 1975, Max was evacuated with his wife and two children to the US where they eventually settled in Bowie, Maryland.In the US, Max worked for 5 years as the Footwear Supervisor at Kmart in Suitland, Maryland. He subsequently worked for 10 years as the Director of Refugee Services at the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Maryland. Finally, Max was employed for 25 years as a Supervisory Contract Specialist with the US Department of Education, Washington D.C. He retired in 2015.Max was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Lucie. Max is survived by daughters, Patricia L. Bell of Huntingtown, MD and Gabrielle L. Piatkowski (Ted) of Dublin, OH; grandchildren David W. Bell, Danielle R. Bell, Stephen J. Piatkowski, and Catherine M. Piatkowsi; and brother Albert LeQuang of Ashburn, VA.
