Billy Barnett Fowler

Billy Barnett Fowler (age 84) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members on Monday, January 9, 2017. He was born to Edna Luella and Fred Fowler in Blytheville, Arkansas on July 26, 1932. At the age of 18, Billy entered the Air Force where he served during the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan before being transferred to Grenier Air Force Base in New Hampshire where he met and married the love of his life, Anita Vigue in 1955. Billy and Anita had four children between 1956 and 1960: Sandra, Denise, David and Joanne. Following the Air Force, he completed college at the University of New Hampshire and graduated with his degree in Geology. Billy and Anita then moved to Georgia, where he worked at Warner Robins Air Force Base before being transferred to Navy Oceanographic in Suitland, MD. While at Navy Oceanographic, he received his Master’s degree at the Naval War College in Providence, Rhode Island. Billy later went on to work for the Defense Mapping Agency, where he finished out his career before retiring in 1987. Billy and Anita settled as original homeowners in Bowie, Maryland in 1962 where he lived out the final 55 years of his life. Billy was preceded in death by his brothers: Fred Fowler, Jr., Jerry Fowler and Joe Fowler. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 61 years, Anita Ann Fowler; his sister Elizabeth Ann Frederick; his children Sandra Lee Witherspoon, Denise Ann Feghali, David Billy Fowler and Joanne Fowler Johnson; his 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
