Stanley C. Wisneski

January 13, 1933 — January 5, 2017

Stanley C. Wisneski Stanley Charles Wisneski died peacefully on January 5, 2017.  He was 83 years old. Born to William and Helen Wisneski, Stanley grew up in Jersey City, NJ with his three brothers and three sisters.  He attended and graduated from William L. Dickinson High School in Jersey City.  At age 18, he joined the Air Force. In 1956, he married Marlene Watters of Falls Church, VA, and they lived in Arlington, VA and then moved to Clinton, MD to start a family.  As his military career involved overseas relocation, he also lived in Brussels, Belgium and Athens, Greece. They had four children and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.  They enjoyed visiting the island of Maui multiple times to celebrate their anniversaries as well as taking many other trips together in the U.S. After 20 years of military service, he retired as a Master Sergeant and then worked full time at Giant Food until retiring at age 77.      Stanley enjoyed attending baseball games to see the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals with his children and Washington Capitals’ games with his son, Mark.   He also enjoyed going to the Kennedy Center with his wife and children.  He enjoyed a variety of music, especially Tony Bennett and Neil Diamond.  He learned and spoke multiple languages during his military career.  He was an avid reader, especially Tom Clancy novels.  He took over maintaining his wife’s flower and vegetable gardens when her health began to fail.  He also spent many hours caring for his grandchildren. Most of Stanley’s 83 years were spent in remarkably good health, but the past six months were challenging as he recovered from a stroke.  He has been predeceased by his wife, Marlene J. Wisneski (Clinton, MD); his parents, William and Helen Wisneski; sister, Helen Healey, brother-in-law, Edmond Healey, brother-in-law, John “Jack” Costello, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Wisneski.  He is survived by his children: Kim Fowler of Lake Ridge VA, Jill Williams of La Plata MD, Lisa Snellings (David) of Bowie MD, and Mark Wisneski (Jennifer) of Millersville, MD; grandchildren:  Sabrina, Jacob, Joanna, Ryan, Simon and Sophia, brothers:  John Wisneski, William Wisneski (Donald), Joseph Wisneski (Patricia), sisters:  Dorothy Costello and Sophia Adelhoch (Alvin); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his family, he loved his lifelong friends and neighbors. Stanley’s legacy of love, kindness and quick wit lives on in his children and grandchildren, the source of immeasurable pride and fulfillment.  His sweet, gentle soul will be dearly missed by many. A public viewing will be held on Friday, January 6 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Beall Funeral Home 6512 NW Crain Hwy (Rt. 3 South) in Bowie.  Visitation will be on Saturday, January 7 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Edward’s the Confessor Catholic Church 1940 Mitchellville Road, Bowie MD followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated.
