Marlene Watters Wisneski died peacefully on December 31, 2016. She was 79 years old. Born to Cecil and Amelia (née Koll) Watters, Marlene grew up in Fostoria, Kansas on the family farm with her two brothers and one sister riding horses and playing high school basketball. She attended and graduated from Fostoria High School in 1955. She moved to Virginia, attended Strayer Business School at night and enjoyed working full time as a secretary for the Department of Navy in Washington, D.C. In 1956, she married Stanley Wisneski of Jersey City, NJ, and they lived in Arlington, VA and then moved to Clinton, MD to start a family at which time which she became a full-time homemaker. As her husband’s military career involved overseas relocation, she also lived in Brussels, Belgium and Athens, Greece. They had four children and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed visiting the island of Maui multiple times to celebrate their anniversaries. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardening until her health began to fail. Despite her health issues, she continued to enjoy traveling all over the world, attending musical concerts and theatre productions in the D.C. area. She has passed on her love of travel, music and theatre to her children and grandchildren thru family vacations and frequent visits to the Washington D.C. area theatres and music venues. Friends and family were never forgotten on birthdays, anniversaries or special occasions. She sent many cards and flowers as well as made frequent phone calls to let you know you were important and special to her. Most of Marlene’s 79 years were spent in good health, but the past ten years were challenging as she coped with two cancers and cardiovascular issues. She has been predeceased by her siblings: Clayton Watters (Albuquerque, NM), Verla Hawkins (Falls Church, VA) and Melvin Watters Sr. (Fostoria, KS). She is survived by her dearest husband, Stanley Wisneski of Clinton MD; children: Kim Fowler of Lake Ridge VA, Jill Williams of La Plata MD, Lisa Snellings (David) of Bowie MD, and Mark Wisneski (Jennifer) of Millersville, MD; grandchildren: Sabrina, Jacob, Joanna, Ryan, Simon and Sophia, many brother-in-law’s, sister-in-law’s, nieces and nephews.
