On October 20th, 2016, Eva Maria Poiani, beloved wife of Claudio Poiani, peacefully passed into the light of heaven surrounded by her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, their devoted sons, Luciano and Steve, their wives, Josclyn and Michelle, beautiful granddaughters, Hailey and Sarah, 3 robust grandsons, Sean, Samuel, and Justin, and by her brother, Hans-Alfred Schneider and his wife, Anni. In 1937 EvaMaria was born in Fulda, Germany and grew up through WWII. Claudio, a US soldier stationed in Germany, asked her to boogie to Elvis during a German-American Friendship Society event and they have been dancing through life together from that point on. As soulmates, she supported her husband through a 30-year military career that bridged Germany, Kentucky, Michigan, and finally, Command Sergeant Major in New York. Army wife - Army life. Eva adored being a mother to her sons and devoted her life to her husband and children. She loved entertaining, had a light up the room smile, a refreshing laugh, and could out-frugal-marathon- shop all of her friends. Her most thrilling triumphs included finding the best deals in town on designer clothes and shoes. She loved traveling with Claudio and visiting friends around the globe as much as she loved sitting in the sun and reading a good novel. Please join her family and friends for the Funeral Mass at St. Edward the Confessor, 1940 Mitchellville Rd, Bowie, on Saturday, November 12th at 11:30, followed by a repast at Sacred Heart Church, Carroll Hall, 16501 Annapolis, MD 20715. Interment at Arlington Cemetery on December 1, 2016 at 9am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011, or online at www.alz.org.
