JOHN CARNEY MEAGHER, “Jack,” of Bowie, MD, died on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Anne Arundel Medical Center, of a heart attack. Jack was born in Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 18, 1931, to John Raymond and Mary (Fallon) Meagher. Due to his father’s work as a tech rep, he was raised throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955, working on radar systems, having been stationed in Mississippi, Maine, and the Republic of South Korea. Following his military service, he took advantage of the GI-Bill, attending Villanova University in Pennsylvania, from which he graduated in 1959, with a BSEE, majoring in electronics. Jack married Angela Rosa Saia in 1961. They had two children -- Kevin Shawn, born in January 9, 1963, and daughter Ursula Mary, born in August 25, 1964. Angela passed away in 1967. Jack married Helen Weber Busse on August 26, 1972, successfully blending two families. Jack’s professional career as an electronic engineer spanned from 1961-2005. He worked over 30 years both for private corporations and as a government contract employee in electronic system and equipment design, development, production, testing and evaluation, acquisition program management, implementation, and in-service engineering. He retired as a government contractor for ARCON Corporation, specializing in systems engineering, acquisition and implementation. He is survived by his loving wife Helen; son Kevin Meagher; daughter Ursula Meagher Agnor; daughter Susan Helen Siegel; and son Craig Ridgeway Busse; as well as 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers Alan Meagher and James Patrick Meagher, and predeceased by brother Bernard Meagher. Viewing and visitation will be held at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Highway, Bowie, MD 20715, on Sunday, October 2, 2016,from 1-3 PM. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016, at 11 AM, at Sacred Heart Chapel on the Hill, MD Route 450, Bowie, MD 20715, with a luncheon reception in the church hall, following the service. Private interment arrangements at Crownsville (Maryland) National Cemetery are pending.
