Navy & NSA Retiree A devout Catholic, Donald Robert Lancaster Jr. passed away Sunday September 4, 2016 in Annapolis, Maryland. Born in Detroit, Michigan in on July, 1 1940, Don worked at the family’s - Lancaster Movie Theater - in River Rouge, Michigan. Don enlisted and served 20 years in the US Navy before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer/Cryptographer from NSA. He was recognized, on numerous occasions, as "Sailor of the Month" for his personal appearance and pride. He served 2 tours in Japan, 1 tour on Okinawa, and an isolated tour on Adak, Alaska, in the Bering Sea. After retiring from NSA, Don resided in Maryland for the remainder of his life, living in Crofton and Odenton, before moving to Glen Burnie in 2014. During his retirement Don started a Real Estate sign business supporting hundreds of local real estate professionals. He decided to hang his last real estate shingle in 2014 after supporting thousands of real estate transactions in central Maryland. If you ever met Don, you instantly fell in love with his warm and charming personality. He was truly loved by everyone that had the opportunity to meet him. He will be remembered for his endearing love for his 5 grandchildren, politics, Sudoku, The Capital Newspaper, all things Michigan as well as his overwhelming passion for life. Don always put others before himself. Whether he was serving his country or making his weekly run to the store to buy canned goods to donate them to those in need, Don truly lived his life with a Servants Heart. Don is survived by his children; Donald R. Lancaster III (Barbara), Stacy Slaubaugh (Edward) and Kevin E. Lancaster (Jennifer). His sister Peggy Lipscomb; brothers Tom, Tim and Greg Lancaster and grandchildren Bradley, Adam, Abigail, Nickolas and Cameron. Family will receive friends at the family-owned BEALL FUNERAL HOME, 6512 NW Crain Hwy. (Rte. 3 South), Bowie, MD on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 10:00am. Interment, Glen Haven Memorial Park, Glen Burnie, MD.
