Mickey Devaney of Bowie, MD, cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend died at home on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Mickey was born on August 10, 1933 in Washington D.C. to Bill and Mary Perry. As a young woman she worked at the Government Printing Office and later became a columnist for the Bowie Blade for many years. She was a member and former President of the Prince Georges County Board of Elections, and at the age of 51 she received her AA from Prince George’s Community College in Secondary Education. Mickey retired from Prince Georges County Schools after 25 years of dedicated service. Mickey had a loving, giving, and vivacious personality. She was devoted to St. Pius X Catholic Church, volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Sodality. Raising her family in Bowie, MD, she was very active in the local community and supported a variety of programs. Mickey loved spending time at the beach in Ocean City, MD. She enjoyed reading and relaxing, especially with a glass of red wine. Mickey was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Mickey was predeceased by her first-born son, Tee Devaney. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Terry Devaney. Her legacy lives on through her family. Children; Gail McDermott, Kevin (Pam) Devaney, Denise (John) Hazard, Colleen (Brad) Nicholson and Marty (Katherine) Devaney. Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, Jessica (Herb) Evans, Kaitlin (Chris) Sinclair, Kacie Devaney, Michelle (Steven) Scott, Shannon Hazard, Teri McDermott, Tad (Jordan) Nicholson, Katie (Jonny) Kibler, Megan Hazard, Matt Nicholson, Clair Devaney, Aiden Devaney, Logan Devaney, Avery Devaney, Connor and Edward Evans, Brody and Mac Scott, and Waylon Nicholson. Family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6 at Beall Funeral Home, 6512 Crain Highway, Bowie, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 7 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 14720 Annapolis Rd., Bowie, MD
