Colonel (retired) Farris D. Rose, 81, of Irvine, KY passed away on August 21, 2016 with his wife by his side. Farris was born in Winston, Kentucky - the son of Farris and Rebecca (Richardson) Rose. He married Eulane Dennis on 4 April, 1957. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University. Farris joined the US Army in 1956 and retired in 1981. He served in both the Armor Branch and the Finance Corps. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War and the recipient of numerous awards and medals, including the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Award. After retiring, he lived in Virginia for many years and had recently moved to Bowie, MD. The family, along with many friends, has lost a wonderful man. He enjoyed downhill skiing and working in his yard. But his greatest passion was traveling. He and his wife loved to travel and they spent many years taking their children and grandchildren to share their experiences. Some of their favorite places to travel were Germany, Scotland, Alaska, and all throughout the western United States. Those who will miss Farris the most include his wife; brothers Bobby and Rod; daughter Debbie and her husband Jim; son William Douglas and daughter-in-law Vicki; son Phillip and daughter-in-law Anna; granddaughters Mary Alice and Rebecca Brooke; grandsons Chandler Dean, Connor Dean, Matthew Paul, and William Douglas.
