Bill was born to Mary and Joseph in 1939 (no this is not a bible story). He was the 3rd of 4 sons in this Loughrey clan. Sadly he is the last of this clan to pass on August 2, 2016. Now, Nana & Grandad have all their boys with them once again. The 3rd and 4th generation of Loughrey's carry the name forward (and there are many). Bill was an Air Force Veteran-Airman 1st Class, he served from 1959 - 1966 as an aircraft mechanic. He was stationed in Virginia, California and Europe. After being honorably discharged, he had a long career in transportation, working as a Tractor Trailer driver for UPS and then to the U S Postal Service where he became the Vehicle Control Supervisor at the Bulk Mail Center in Largo, MD. After retirement, he moved to Florida. Retirement was not for him. He started another career (in transportation of course) at Walt Disney World Orlando. He drove passenger buses to and from the resorts to the theme parks, he also worked for Disney Car Care (Disney's version of AAA). He would have continued to work until his last breath had his health allowed him to do so. In December of 2014, he suffered a stroke and became unable to care for himself fully. His family moved him back to Maryland where he continued to decline over time. He was diagnosed with Dementia as a result of the stroke. Dementia is a very cruel disease, it started very slow but memory was eluding him fast. We are often told there is a blessing in disguise for every heart ache. One blessing that Bill received from dementia is that he forgot he smoked cigarettes in January 2016. (That was a blessing). His children received a blessing as well. His illness brought all of them together on a more frequent basis and their relationships have grown strong and close. Bill is survived by his first wife Sue and his children Joanne and David along with son in law Al and daughter in law Jessica. Bill also had two granddaughters Zoe & Maddy (David & Jessica's daughters). This was another blessing for Bill. He spent time with "the babies" (his words). He is also survived by his second wife Emma and their children Katherine, Joseph, Benjamin and soon to be son in law Brian. Bill had two families but was able to make it all feel like one. (or maybe it was the Mom's that did that) But Bill was the center of it all. Bill "Wild Bill" to most could make you laugh, cry and or fear as most friends or father's do. He will be missed by many and live forever in our hearts. The Loughrey family would like to thank everyone who touched Bill's life and shared time with him. We also thank all of our friends and family for the love and support given to each of us while on this journey. As we say goodbye to our Dad, we send love and peace to each of you. God speed DADDY! Please take a few minutes to sign our guestbook, share stories (we know there are many) and share pictures. Bill will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery December 05, 2016 @ 1:30pm. Followed by a celebration of life at his daughter's home: 1419 Ormsby Place Crofton, MD 21114 In lieu of flowers, the family prefers a donation be made to: Hospice of the Chesapeake
