Robert Earl Batchelor Passed away on July 21, 2016 at his home. Born 11/21/1928 to Louis S. Batchelor and Mary Emma Graham in Aliquippa, PA. Bob grew up in western Pennsylvania along with his siblings, Luke, Jim, Bill, Kaye, Betty and Ruth who all preceded him in death. He was active in sports and was a good student, earning National Honor Society membership. Bob enlisted in the Air Force upon graduation from high school , earning the rank of Staff Sergeant and served in Germany during the Berlin Airlift and then in Bermuda where he met the love of his life, Margaret Munro, who he married on October 6th 1951 and who was his best friend and companion until she preceded him in death in 2015. Upon leaving the military he returned to Aliquippa and worked for J&L Steel while attending the University of Pittsburgh. He earned an Associate’s degree in Education and moved to Bowie, Maryland where he began his career as a vocational high school sheet metal instructor. He spent the next 19 years teaching at Bladensburg High School placing many of his students in the national vocational school competitions and at numerous local sheet metal companies throughout the area including W.B. Maske company where he worked summers as a journeyman shop fabricator and then full time after his school program was discontinued. Bob and Margaret had five children, Maggi, Jim, Jeff, John and Scott who all survive him. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Bob’s passions were fishing, hunting, sports, both playing, coaching and in later years watching, vacationing with his family and most importantly his lifelong companion Margaret, who he adored. A Memorial service will be held on August 6th from 3 to 5 PM @ Beall Funeral Home, 6512 Crain Hwy, Bowie, MD
