Barton C French

June 8, 1939 — July 18, 2016

Of New Carrollton, MD passed away peacefully after a short battle with Melanoma, on Monday, July 18, 2016. Toby, which he was most commonly known as, was born on June 8, 1939 in Lexington, KY. Toby graduated from Gallaudet University where he found his love of books. He dedicated 51 years working in the federal government at the Department of Army Library and the Library of Congress. He also concurrently worked for 26 of those years at Giant Food. When he wasn't working, he loved to be with his family, watching sports, mainly his beloved Redskins and Nationals and bowling. Toby is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary; daughter, Vicki (Dave); son, Jim; as well as, his grandchildren, Ryan, Jake and Tori. He is also survived by his relatives and friends. His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 1 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held at Berwyn Baptist Church, which is located at 4720 Cherokee St, College Park, MD 20740. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you make a donation in his name to either the Mark Seven Deaf Foundation at Camp Mark Seven, 144 Mohawk Hotel Road, Old Forge, NY 13420 or Gallaudet University.
