?Janice Collins Derby was born on Oct. 28, 1921 at home in the beautiful mountain town of Dushore, PA. Her parents were James E. Collins and Lucy R. Cullen Collins. At 19 she met and married the love of her life, Edward Lewis Derby (deceased) and raised three children with him, Janice Stevens-Pina of Carmel, CA, Edward Leo Derby, of Raleigh, NC and Monique S. Derby of Winchester, VA. Janice made much mischief with her two younger brothers, Joseph C. Collins (deceased) and William (Bill) Collins of Hagerstown, MD. Janice also has two incredible grandsons and two beautiful granddaughters, four great-grandchildren along with a very special sister-in-law, Barbara Billet Collins of Darnestown, MD, three very sweet nieces and a most treasured son-in-law, Mark A. Shuford of Winchester, VA. Janice had a passion for people, travel, the arts and dancing with her husband. After working with the Plant Industry of Maryland, she later became a volunteer with the Red Cross, The Women's Center of Raleigh and finally the NC Museum of Art for 30 years. Janice will be buried beside her husband at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Upper Marlboro, MD. Janice had a colorful life; make yours colorful too.
