Eloise Oviatt

October 25, 1921 — June 16, 2016

Eloise was born and raised in Texas, but she always wanted to travel.  After she married my Dad, Marion C. Oviatt, she was able to see most of this country and much of Europe. They raised three children.  Philip Ray, born 1944 in Corpus Christi, TX, Pamela Sue, born 1947 in Portland, OR and Patricia Ann born 1949 in Denver, CO.  Besides these cities, they had lived in New Braunfels, TX, Norman, OK, Warwick & East Greenich, RI, Randalstown, MD where Marion (MO) went to be with the Lord and then Mom moved to Crofton, MD where she lived independently for 28 years until a severe illness required her to move to an Assisted Living at 92.During those years in Crofton, she was active in her church, traveling and playing board games with a local senior group, traveling and eating out with her friends.  She took up painting and each of her family members, as well as many of her friends, have these paintings gracing their walls.  She loved her family which now included seven grandchildren, From Philip Ray (Marilyn Jane Downes) -  Philip Robin Oviatt, Patrick Ray Oviatt, Natalie Jane Oviatt & Paul Ryan Oviatt. From Pamela Sue (Oviatt) Binninger (Gilbert C. Binninger) - Matthew Clayton Binninger.  From Patricia Ann (Oviatt) Minnigh (Paul N. Minnigh) - Chad Barrett Minnigh & Joshua Paul Minnigh (Erin Rene Kellman).  She also had seven great-grandchildren. From Philip Robin (Myra Slagle) - Geneva & Cecil Oviatt.  From Natalie Jane (Oviatt) James (Omar James) - stepson, Odaine & Natavia James.  From Chad Barrett Minnigh (Kelly Dempsey) - Austin, Tori and Jadyn Minnigh.Eloise was a godly woman who loved the Lord and in her last lucid moment, she looked around at her family surrounding her bed and told us that she knew she was dying and that she loved us all very much, then looked at each of us individually and said, "Follow God!"  Then she said a prayer for all of us and that was her last coherent moment. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother, friend and Christian lady.  She lived her life to be a Christian example to others.  She will be greatly missed.A private, family burial will be held Monday, June 19, at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville, MdA Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 30 at 2:00p at Bowie Church of Christ 2518 Kenhill Drive. Bowie, Md 20715.
