Julia Campbell Dancy, fondly known to family and close friends as Judy, was born on May 26, 1959 and departed this life on May 15, 2016. Her death occurred short of her 57th birthday. Julia was born in York County South Carolina. Julia was the daughter of Julius and Willie Currence Dancy, who each preceded her in death. Julia’s family moved to Washington, DC when she was an infant. She attended Noyes Elementary School, Langley Junior High School, and McKinley Tech High School. Julia was a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park. She earned her Bachelors of Science majoring in Psychology. She also attended the Washington School for Secretaries. Julia loved to constantly educate and challenge her mind. As a teenager, her love of music inspired her to learn to play the piano. She was a student at The Modern School of Music once located on Georgia Avenue in Washington, DC. In high school, she was a member of The Chess Club. She loved to read poetry, and doing word search puzzles. She prided herself on staying current with world and local news. She had a love for watching lacrosse, ice hockey, college basketball, and football games. Julia was a devote member of St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church. To cherish her memory, she leaves her cousin Debra Woodson (Bowie, Maryland), who was her constant caretaker for years; her cousin Ann Campbell Williams (Washington, DC) who was her “sidekick” and roommate; a favorite cousin-in-law, Duane Woodson, who (along with wife Debra) was at Julia's side when she died; two very special young cousins, Amanda Woodson and Eleasa Woodson; and a host of relatives and friends.
