Paul Dean Taylor was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on December 30, 1955. As his father was in the Navy, he traveled extensively with his parents, Captain “B” Frank Taylor and Jane Field Taylor. He graduated from high school in Naples, Italy in 1973. He went to the University of Pittsburgh and after his motorcycle accident, continued his studies at William and Mary University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He started working for the federal government in 1981 for the Department of Navy at the U.S. Naval academy before moving on to the Internal Revenue Service, where he developed and maintained several tax account databases. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service in August 2011 after a distinguished 30 years of government service where he earned the prestigious Albert Gallatin award. He fought a courageous battle with Liver Cancer, undergoing several treatments, before he lost the battle on April 6, 2016. He went peacefully to his final resting place surrounded by those he dearly loved and who loved him --- his son, Dylan Taylor; his daughter, Shannon Taylor; his brother, Carl Taylor and his wife Kelly; nieces, Laura Blake, Ashley Stopera, and Lindsay Stauffer; nephew, Christopher Taylor; and honorary family members, Sheryl Taylor, and Karen Taylor. He was predeceased by his parents. In addition to the above named family and friends, he is survived by nephew and niece, Brian and Christina Dent. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Paul was the strongest man we knew. No matter what he was faced with to overcome, he came through it -- from the motorcycle accident that took his left arm, to the many surgeries he needed to repair the injuries he suffered, to the many cancer treatments he endured, he fought hard and will be admired for this spirit! Rest in Peace Dad, brother, beloved uncle and friend!
