Lucius Ross was born on March 31, 1922, in Greenwood, South Carolina and, was educated there as well. He enlisted in the Army on April 12, 1943, served in World War II, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal on January 15, 1946. While on military leave in 1944, he took a trip to New York. It was there that he met Rose Ella Lee. They married on December 21, 1946. She preceded him in death on March 12, 1979.He worked for and retired from Versus Food Company after 20 years. Mr. Ross worked and retired early from the Government Printing Office on November 7, 1980, after 25 years of dedicated service. Mr. Ross departed this life on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, five days after celebrating his 94th birthday. He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Ross; his sister, Minnie Elizabeth Susewell; his niece, Barbara Susewell Copeland; two nephews, John Robert Susewell and Richard Allen Susewell; two special cousins, Carrye Mae Ross and Mary Emma Ross; and a devoted son-in-law, Reginald Harris. Those celebrating his life and cherishing fond memories are: his son, Lucius Ross, Jr.; his daughter, Donna Maria Harris; four grandchildren, Nicole Veronique Ross; Danielle Rene Ross; Ashley Maria Harris; and Jason Ross Harris; three great grandchildren, Drake Lovelle White; Ronnie Tomae White; and Davin Nikosi Ross; and a beloved grand dog, Chewy; his nephew-in-law, Nathaniel Copeland; two grand nieces, Natasha (DeNorris) Heard and Prondolyn Copeland; and his niece-in-law, Lucinda Susewell.
