Mr. Elliott J. Dozier, Sr. died of natural causes on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. He was 87 years old and died peacefully at home with his wife. Elliott was born on June 27, 1928 in Ninety Six, a small town in South Carolina. His family moved north to Washington, DC when he was four years old. He lived on 6th St. NW through his high school years; and spent the majority of his career working at the Pentagon for the Department of Defense as a computer analyst. Elliott’s favorite hobby was working in his backyard garden which he maintained for almost 40 years. His neighbors and family looked forward to the fresh vegetables and watermelon every summer and collard greens in the winter. In 1997, he took his first plane ride during a father/son trip to the west coast where he vacationed in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Over the past ten years, Elliott also traveled to Honolulu, Park City, and Chicago. In the last years of his life, Elliott stayed close to home as he battled diabetes and congestive heart failure. Despite the health issues, he maintained a smile and sense of humor throughout his life. Elliott is preceded in death by his mother Ella Dozier and father James Dozier. He is survived his Wife Maxine Dozier and four children: William E. Dozier, Jimmy Dozier, Sheryl Dozier and Carolyn Glodt, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
