Tuesday February 23, 2016 Arlo Pedersen passed away peacefully in sleep at his home in Gambrills, MD. He was a 40 year resident of Crofton, MD. He was the son of Danish immigrants Thomas Pedersen and Thora Svendesen Pedersen. Arlo was born in Dell Rapids, South Dakota where he attended high school and was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division in WWII. Upon completion of his service to his country, Arlo graduated from the University Of South Dakota with a degree in Engineering. He worked for the Department of Defense for 30 years. Arlo is survived by his beloved wife Ramona of 49 years, son Scott (Shannon) and grandchildren Madeleine, Thomas, and Jackson and sister Edith O'Brien. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Margret Hinners, brothers Anker and Leon Pedersen. He was a member of the Crofton Kiwanis, Elks of Annapolis, and the American Legion Post #7. In 1997 Arlo was named Crofton Citizen of the Year by the Crofton Civic Association. Visitation will be held at the Beall Funeral Home at 6512 Crain Highway Bowie, MD 20715 on Monday February 29, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Additional viewing will be held Tuesday March 1, 2016 from 11am-12pm followed by a memorial service at 12:00pm at Beall Funeral Home. Services will follow at The Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake 90 Ritchie Highway Pasadena, MD 21122.
